Katharine Ferns began her stand up career in Vancouver and Toronto where she developed her confessional and brutally honest storytelling style of comedy. She has sweetly charmed her audiences with frank observations on relationships, stories of her family and past misadventures in the best comedy clubs and basement bars in Canada. In 2012, Katharine was a finalist in the Toronto’s Funniest Comedian Contest at Just For Laughs (JFL42). She has also opened for Big Jay Oakerson, Ari Shaffir, Kurt Metzger, Tom Segura, SamTripoli, Baron Vaughn, Brian Redban from Deathsquad and Brendon Walsh at the 2013 Dark Comedy Festival. Katharine was nominated for the 2013 Fresh Meat Competition for the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund sponsored by The Second City, Toronto. Katharine was featured on the ichannel in the stand-up series No Kidding and as a panelist on Inside Joke in 2014. Katharine also hosted a monthly show COMEDY INFERNO and was the weekly headliner at the Hot Box in Toronto. After her first Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 as the co-feature act in Matt Henry and Friends, Katharine moved to London, England to continue her career in her family’s home country. That year she was a finalist in the Laughing Horse New Act Competition and in 2015, Katharine will be at the Brighton Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her debut solo show Conscious, Incompetent.
