Born in Sweden to immigrant Chinese parents, Evelyn Mok challenges pre-disposed norms by blending social commentary with sharp gags about everyday observations. With an inimitable delivery and a beautifully original perspective on many of life’s big issues, Evelyn approaches each topic with a refreshingly unapologetic attitude that had Steve Bennett of Chortle deem her “brutal but funny”.
In her native Sweden, Mok is acknowledged as one of the country’s bright new stars and was named New Act of the Yearin 2010. In the same year she opened for comedian Paul Foot on his club tour of the country and was commissioned by the Swedish National Broadcasting Network to create Evelyn’s Videoblog, a 10 part web sketch-series based on her shy and introverted comedy character of the same name. The success of the web-series led her to be cast in the swedish version of television show fonejacker in 2011 and in 2012 she received the One to Watch Award at the Swedish Stand Up Gala.
